Risk BoardgameThis the fourth installment of the Save the World, Be Creative Series. Just one more to go before it’s finished!

Applying Your Creativity

I’ve always believed that the greatest form of failure is working a job that you hate. I can’t wrap my head around waiting for that coveted two weeks of vacation when it’s possible to live and work the way you want. The problem is that most of us suffer from inaction and chronic excuse-making. We have all the tools to live our dream lives, but these two factors create such an intense mental block that success is deferred. We swim in so much fear every single day that it seems impossible to break free of it, but you can conquer your fear. Once you’ve learned how to do that, it is much easier to propel forward and take action.

You have an idea. It’s amazing, fantastic, stupendous and could generate a massive following and rake in the dough. Maybe a year later, you’re flipping through channels and you see an infomercial selling your idea. Rage ensues. You made that! That was your idea! How could they?

Well, I’ll tell you. They (probably) didn’t read your mind or overhear you telling someone about your stupendous idea, but came up with it on their own. Remember, there are no original ideas, just original execution. The only difference between you and these “con-artists” is that they took action and you didn’t. It’s that simple. They aren’t any more capable of success than you nor are you inferior to them, it’s a matter of taking action.

It doesn’t take a genius to come up with an idea, every human does this on a daily basis, whether it’s driving different route to the store or the meal you’ll eat at dinner. Every idea is a risk. Is it worth it? It’s your call. There could be traffic if you take a different route or the food you make could taste awful. You’ll never know until your try! That route could shave several minutes off your drive time and that meal could be the best you’ve ever cooked. There’s a 50% chance that things will turn out terribly, but there’s a 50% chance they will work magnificently. I’d rather focus on the latter half, wouldn’t you?

What good is tapping into your super creativity if you’re never going to use it? That seems downright silly to me. It’s a struggle for everyone, even those that you idolize and wish you knew their secret. I can tell you right now. The secret is to take action.

I’m ready for you to astound me with your creative actions. What ideas are you going to make a reality? What dreams are you going to propel into existence?

Look for the fifth and final installment of this series tomorrow, along with a very special announcement!
